Throughout her undergraduate and post-baccalaureate studies, Tashauna gained valuable work and leadership experience as a retail store manager and the lead orthodontic assistant at Beautiful Smiles in North Miami. She remained active in community service, particularly focused on improving access to dental care. Through these experiences, she recognized that one of the major factors contributing to the lack of access to dental care in underrepresented communities is the absence of representation from those communities, a problem she also identified in her home country, where approximately 302 dentists serve a population of 2.7 million. Her mission to mentor underrepresented students has become her primary focus. As an ODEIB ambassador, Tashauna is confident that she can make a lasting impact by diversifying the face of dentistry.
