HSDM considers the generation of new knowledge to be an integral part of the education of future leaders in the field of dentistry. In recognition of this goal, predoctoral students are required to explore and develop interest in a special field, resulting in a research experience prior to the awarding of the DMD degree.
Students are introduced to the research program during Year Two and receive guidance from the Office of Research in the selection of a research mentor and the identification of a project of manageable scope. More details about the research program can be found in the Student Research Handbook.
