Dr. Reshma Menon, lecturer on Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity, will step into the role of society director beginning in January 2022. In this role, she will work closely with predoctoral students guiding them through their academic and clinical development.

Menon has served as the course director for several predoctoral and postdoctoral courses as well as served as the predoctoral discipline director for Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at HSDM since 2019. She has also been the chair for the Education Quality Improvement Committee since 2021.

“We are thrilled that one of our well-known and highly-valued faculty members will be taking on this new role,” said Dr. Sang Park, Associate Dean for Dental Education.

Society directors play an important role throughout dental student’s academic careers at HSDM. All Harvard dental students are assigned to one of five academic societies in their first year—a tradition that enhances interaction between students and faculty in smaller group settings for learning. Society directors serve as role models, mentors, and course directors. They monitor students’ academic and clinical development and ensure patient care and treatment plans progress successfully in the Case Completion Curriculum.

Menon is a graduate of the advanced graduate Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology program at HSDM, earning her Doctor of Medical Sciences (DMSc) degree in 2017. Prior to coming to HSDM, she graduated with a BDS from Sri Ramachandra Dental College in Chennai, India and pursued a clinical fellowship in Oral Medicine and Orofacial Pain at New York University College of Dentistry.
