Dr. Sang Lee, a strong leader and highly admired colleague at Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM), has been named Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs. With this new leadership position, Lee will assume the role of Medical Director of the Harvard Dental Center (HDC) practices in both Longwood and Cambridge.
In partnership with the Harvard Dental Center management team, Department Chairs, the Office of Dental Education and the AGE Program Directors, Lee will direct all student and patient related clinical activities at the HDC Teaching Practice and oversee daily clinical operations to ensure the highest excellence in standards of care and quality assurance.
“I am confident that Sang is well positioned to help us realize even greater impact and excellence in this next phase for the Harvard Dental Center,” said Dean William Giannobile. “This important new role represents a significant step toward advancing clinical education and innovation activities for the HDC.”
Lee received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He completed his advanced graduate training at HSDM, receiving a Master of Medical Science degree in oral biology, a Certificate in Prosthodontics, and a Certificate in Implant Dentistry.
He has demonstrated exemplary dedication toward research, clinical care and teaching through didactic and clinical classes. Serving as director of AGE since 2014, he has been responsible for overseeing 14 advanced graduate training programs and heading the Committee on Advanced Graduate Education (CAGE). Lee has also served as Director for the AGE Prosthodontics program since 2015.
Lee is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and serves as Fellow of many organizations including the American College of Prosthodontists, Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, and American Academy of Dental Science. He has served as a site visitor for the Advanced Dental Program in the Committee on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and a Review Committee member for the Advanced Dental Program in Prosthodontics.
In an announcement about Lee’s appointment, Giannobile recognized the work of Dr. German Gallucci who served as Executive Director of the HDC and will continue his dedicated service as Chair of the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences. Lee’s appointment will begin September 1, 2022.
It was also announced that Dr. Jason Lee will serve as interim director of the AGE Prosthodontics Program beginning on the same date.
