Alvin Krakow Endodontic Research Symposium

The Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences will hold the first annual Alvin Krakow Endodontic Research Symposium at Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM). Dr. Krakow was the first endodontic program director at HSDM, and he envisioned creating an endowed research fund specifically for endodontic research. Over the years, the fund has grown and has supported numerous Endodontic scholars in completing their research studies at HSDM. The symposium aims to share new research on the clinical practice of endodontics.

Dr. Anibal Diogenes, Professor and Vice-Chair of the Department of Endodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, will serve as the symposium's keynote speaker. He will be presenting on the Biology of Periapical Periodontitis. Dr. Pam Yelick from Tufts University will present New Findings Related to Dental Pulp Regeneration. Dr. Jennifer Gibbs from HSDM will present on Pain Resolution After Endodontic Treatment.

Several HSDM alumni, whose research was supported by the Krakow fund, will present on topics including neurotoxicity of endodontic sealers, biomarkers in endodontics, and the influence of race in treatment planning.
