Abstract: 

This course is aimed at providing three hours in total of CE which can be credited towards the DEA-MATE mandated hours for new or renewal application of DEA license. The course is intended to provide fundamental understanding on substance use disorders, and possible referral and management. Reviewing the Principles of sound Pain management: Safe pharmacological management of dental pain; acute and chronic pain. Along with reviewing Substance abuse and addiction: Terminology, definitions; prevalence and incidence; drugs of abuse and addiction; identifying the risk factors; who is prone?

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this two-part course, participants will be able to:

  1. Learn to identify patients with the potential for substance use disorders and prevention of SUD
  2. Understand the basics of neurophysiology of SUDs
