Dr. Nora Alamer

Lecturer on Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology

Nora I. Alamer, BDS MPH FRCD(C) DMSc, is a dual board-certified orthodontist and public health dentist. She received her Master’s of Public Health degree from Nova Southeastern University. Then, she completed her dental public health residency at Columbia University. Thereafter, she earned her clinical certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics from Tufts University. Finally, she joined Harvard University for her Doctor of Medical Science degree.

Dr. Alamer is currently an Assistant Professor at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She is currently leading a committee to develop the first Dental Public Health Residency Program in the Middle East. Also, she is involved in teaching the postgraduate dental residents, and supervising dental interns in conducting and presenting research projects. Beside her work in academia, she practices orthodontics at a private practice in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Alamer is also a Misk fellow and an inaugural member of the Saudi Leadership Society that empower and inspire a diverse community of visionary and effective leaders who strive for positive change and contribute to the development of Saudi Arabia and the world.

Her research focuses on analyzing national data to assess oral health disparities, implementing school-based oral health programs, and integrating oral health and primary care. ‘Health for all’ is her view about life. To contribute to this cause, she aims at advocating for changes in the Saudi’s healthcare system to ensure efficiency and facilitate access without sacrificing quality. Dr. Alamer received Leverett Graduate Student Merit Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dental Public Health, Caswell A. Evans Population Oral Health Post-Professional Award, and Dr. James M. Dunning Award for Outstanding Research in Oral Epidemiology/Public Health Dentistry.
