HESHAM ALHAZMI

Hesham Alhazmi, BDS, MS, DMSc, is board-certified in both Pediatric Dentistry and Dental Public Health. He earned a clinical certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and a Master of Science in Dental Research Degree from Tufts University. He then earned a certificate in Dental Public Health and a Doctor of Medical Sciences Degree in Oral Biology from Harvard University. Dr. Alhazmi is currently an Assistant Professor at Umm Al-Qura University, Saudi Arabia. He is also a Consulting Biostatistician at Boston Children’s Hospital. Alongside his academic work, he practices pediatric dentistry at a private clinic in Jeddah. Dr. Alhazmi also serves as a thesis committee member, who is involved with different MS and DMSc thesis projects at HSDM.

His research focuses on analyzing national data, implementing school-based oral health programs, integrating oral health and primary care, and dental curriculum reform. Dr. Alhazmi participated in the collaboration between Harvard School of Dental Medicine with the Health Advancement Initiative in Vietnam to reform the dental curriculum. Also, he worked with Center for Integration of Primary Care and Oral Health team to assess the integration of different topics within the Advanced General Dentistry and General Practice Residency curricula.

Dr. Alhazmi received Dr. James M. Dunning Award for Outstanding Research in Oral Epidemiology/Public Health Dentistry, Lois K. Cohen Award for Excellence in Global Health, Caswell A. Evans Population Oral Health Post-Professional Award, and Leverett Graduate Student Merit Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dental Public Health.
