Dr. David Tiansui Wu
Instructor in Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity
Dr. David T. Wu is the interim director of advanced graduate periodontology and an instructor of Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity at Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM). He earned his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Medicine degrees from McGill University, followed by a Certificate in Periodontology and a Doctor of Medical Sciences in Oral Biology from HSDM. Wu is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Periodontics.
Wu's work focuses on bridging the gap between laboratory science and clinical practice by translating scientific discoveries into oral healthcare solutions to address unmet needs in oral healthcare. His research includes developing biomaterials for dental, oral, and craniofacial regeneration, medical devices for wound healing and drug delivery, and in vitro models that replicate oral health and disease. He has authored numerous publications and textbook chapters on periodontology, implant dentistry, biomaterials, and tissue engineering.
Wu has received several honors, including the Balint Orban Award for Excellence in Basic Science Research from the American Academy of Periodontology and the Dr. D. Walter Cohen Teaching Award from the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation. His additional accolades include the Joseph L. Henry Award, the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award, and the Presidential Scholarship from Harvard University.
