Dr. Theodore Tso presents a live and interactive seminar on

"Maxillofacial Prosthetics for the Patient with Head & Neck Cancer"

Each year, about 4% of all diagnosed cancers are in the head and neck region. Treatment often entails surgical resection and/or chemoradiation. Patients may be left severely debilitated with significant functional deficits and facial disfigurement. Many require complex prostheses to return them to a relatively normal quality of life. Intraoral appliances can be fabricated after surgery to address various functional deficits, such as speaking, swallowing, and masticating. Facial prostheses are available to aid the patient after loss of eyes, ears, noses, and other acquired deformities. Osseointegrated implants greatly expand the scope of what can be accomplished. This lecture will provide a broad overview of the role of prosthodontists and other dental specialists in the team approach to care of these patients.
