Abstract: This session will review the current evidence-based guidelines for non-surgical management of patients presenting with a temporomandibular joint or muscle disorder (TMD), including a brief review of the different signs and symptoms of myogenous and arthrogenous TMDs as well as a review of occlusal appliance therapy, pharmacotherapy, physical therapy, and other treatment modalities.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the clinical signs and symptoms of a nyogenous TMD as compared to an arthrogenous TMD
- Recognize the first-line treatment options for conservative management of a TMJ disorder, including jaw stretching exercises, occlusal appliances, pharmacotherapy, and habit control
Tuition: $70/1 ADA CERP credit hour
