Caring for Older Adults: Safely Caring for Vulnerable Older Adults

Abstract: Continuing Education addressing the unique needs of the aging population is underrepresented. As the adult population ages exponentially and their medical and oral health needs become more complex, this series of courses is essential for the general practitioner to incorporate special considerations for restorative treatment from door to chair. Our speakers have first-hand experience of both how to address the needs of older adults and how to design treatment plans to promote longer-lasting, appropriate oral healthcare.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Things to consider when communication with older adults: increased front, pocket talker, and avoiding elder speak
  2. Overview of functional status and wheelchair transfers
  3. Care-resistant behaviors and management tools
  4. Us of SDF and ART

Tuition: $69/1 ADA CERP credit hour
