Location:

Webinar via Zoom

Speaker: Dr. Lisa Thompson

Abstract: Continuing Education addressing the unique needs of the aging population is underrepresented. As the adult population ages exponentially and their medical and oral health needs become more complex, this series of courses is essential for the general practitioner to incorporate special considerations for restorative treatment from door to chair. Our speakers have first-hand experience of both how to address the needs of older adults and how to design treatment plans to promote longer-lasting, appropriate oral healthcare.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define polypharmacy and recognize its impact on older patients
  2. Identify medications that can increase the risk of falls in seniors and the impact of medications on oral health
  3. Discuss relevant medication management in the geriatric population
  4. Xerostomia and caries risk
  5. How normal aging impacts pharmacokinetics
