Abstract: This course aims to inform dental practitioners of an emerging alternative treatment to pulpectomies and extractions for non-vital primary teeth called lesion sterilization and tissue repair (LSTR). LSTR is a non-instrumentation endodontic treatment that involves a tri-antibiotic mixture in a propylene glycol vehicle, which is used to disinfect root canal systems.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the origins of the development of the Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair (LSTR) technique.
  2. Understand the foundational research on which the LSTR Technique is based.
  3. Understand the selection criteria for application of the LSTR Technique.
  4. Understand the LSTR technique to treat infected primary teeth.
