Abstract: We will review how oral leukocytes are key clinical biomarkers of oral inflammation, the role of an oral leukocyte count as an effective screening tool for oral inflammation similar to a white blood cell count serving as a screening tool for infection, how oral inflammation impacts the systemic immune response and the future or screening for oral inflammation in the dental setting.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Appreciate based on recent evidence the impact of oral inflammation on overall immune health
- Appreciate the importance of educating patients on the role of oral inflammation on overall health
- Appreciate the importance of being able to screen for oral inflammation in the dental setting
Tuition: $49/1 ADA CERP credit hour
