How to Apply
While specific application requirements vary by academic program, there are certain general steps which most AGE applicants must complete.
Most Applicants:
- Possess a DDS or DMD degree or foreign equivalent.
- Submit an application through ADEA's PASS system. This application may be accessed at ADEA PASS.
- Email the HSDM AGE Supplemental Application directly to AGE Admissions.
- Submit an application fee of $95. Click here to pay the application fee.
General Guidelines
Applicants may apply to one program per academic year. HSDM will not consider applicants for multiple programs.
IEF is required; we will accept one from a program completed after dental school such as a specialty program. This can be from a Principal Investigator. One of the PEFs must be from your most recent academic director and/or employer (if applicable).
Make sure emails from donoreply@webadmit.org are not going to your spam folder.
NOTE: Please do not submit any of the following to HSDM: Transcripts, resumes/CVs, letter of recommendation, portfolios, research papers, etc. All materials submitted to PASS will suffice for the application process.

TOEFL iBT Exam Requirements
All applicants must submit official TOEFL scores from a test taken within the past two years and the exam can only be waived if BOTH the bachelor's degree and dental degree were obtained at English-speaking institutions in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or the United Kingdom. The minimum acceptable overall score is 95, with subcategory score minimums in the following areas:
- Reading 21
- Listening 17
- Speaking 24
- Writing 25
*All subcategory minimum scores must be satisfied.
NOTE: Just having a bachelor's degree in dental medicine is not enough to be exempted from the TOEFL.
Official scores should be sent directly to ADEA PASS from ETS.
NBDE/INBDE Scores
Applicants who have taken the National Board Dental Examination (NBDE) must submit an official INBDE/NBDE transcript to ADEA's PASS system. Please refer to program-specific checklists as each program contains different requirements for applying. An NBDE/INBDE score is not required at the point of application, but must be submitted prior to matriculation for domestic applicants.
GRE Scores
Please note that all applicants to the Orthodontics program are required to submit official GRE scores to the AGE Office of Admissions from ETS directly. HSDM's institute code is 3430.
ADAT
None of the AGE programs require Advanced Dental Admissions Test (ADAT) scores. If the applicant has taken the ADAT we will accept them, but not for review of candidacy for an AGE program.
