Dr. Hawazin Elani
Dr. Hawazin Elani is an assistant professor at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She is a prosthodontist and epidemiologist, and her research focuses on investigating the impact of health policies on the oral health of vulnerable populations.
Dr. Elani is particularly interested in exploring social determinants of population health, health disparities, and improving access to oral health services. She uses big data analytics, including causal inference, econometrics, and machine learning approaches to inform data-driven policymaking aimed at reducing health disparities.
Dr. Elani is leading multiple projects funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Commonwealth Fund. She earned an MSc and a PhD from McGill University and completed a residency in prosthodontics at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where she received an MMSc.
