Two Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) staff members were recently recognized for their dedication and service to HSDM and Harvard University.
Harvard Hero Award
Molly Deschenes, senior DMD curriculum coordinator in the Office of Dental Education, was recently named a 2018 Harvard Hero. The University-wide Harvard Heroes Program celebrates the accomplishments of staff whose work supports the mission of Harvard at the highest levels of contribution, impact and excellence.
One of Deschenes nominators said, “Molly displays incredible compassion and thoroughness and has earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues, including faculty, students, and staff throughout the School.”
Another nominator said, “She finds quiet satisfaction in seeing her job well done, and that is why it is important for us to take the time to shine a spotlight on her dedication. We sincerely cannot think of a candidate more deserving of this honor.”
Dolores J. Brown Staff Award
Nkwanzi Sabiti, staff assistant in the Department of Oral Medicine, Infection and Immunity was chosen as the 2018 recipient of the Dolores J. Brown Staff Award. The award recognizes a staff member from HMS or HSDM who has a record of outstanding service, demonstrates respect for the School and its mission, and helps to create a welcoming and inclusive work environment. Sabiti will represent both HMS and HSDM in accepting this award.
One of Sabiti’s nominators said, “Nkwanzi’s intelligence, skills, common sense and work ethic make her a model administrator. Her compassion, interpersonal skills, and sense of humor make her a wonderful person.” They added, “…she is a SHINING example of serving the Mission through daily best practices.”
Both Deschenes and Sabiti will receive their awards at ceremonies held this spring.
