Pathways into Dentistry Pipeline Program Recognized with National STEM Award

Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) was recently honored for its diversity and inclusion efforts, receiving a 2018 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. The Award honors colleges and universities nationwide that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Faculty Recognized for Mentoring and Inspiring Students

Drs. Aram Kim and Supattriya Chutinan, instructors in Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences, were recently recognized for their work as teachers and mentors. Kim and Chutinan received this year's Young Mentor Award, an award that recognizes Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard Medical School faculty in the early stages of their career, who devote their time to mentoring others.

Swann Receives Community Service Award for Oral Health Outreach with the Wampanoag

Dr. Brian J. Swann, assistant professor of Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology, was recently awarded a 2018 Dean's Community Service Award for his work with the Wampanoag Tribe Oral Health Relief Effort. HSDM Celebrates 2016 Graduates

May 26, 2016

Harvard Commencement and Class Day was held on Thursday, May 26 with celebration and ceremony. The day began with the graduating students marching into Harvard’s Tercentenary Theatre for Morning Exercises. Music, tradition, and remarks by students and deans commemorated the 375th Commencement.

Degree candidates from 13 schools and Harvard College were recognized by school and cheered by the crowd. Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) awarded 61 degrees– 13 Master of Medical Sciences, 12 Doctor of Medical Sciences, 36 Doctor of Dental Medicine degrees.

Dean’s Innovation Fund Recipients Announced

The first four recipients of the inaugural HSDM Dean’s Innovation Challenge were recently announced. The Dean’s Innovation Fund awards up to $25,000 of grant funding to HSDM faculty who propose innovative projects aimed at enhancing research, education or patient care.

Projects in basic, clinical, translational or social sciences were considered and evaluated based on the following criteria: their ability to gather pilot data that may be used to support future grant applications; their likeliness not to be funded by other mechanisms...

Mohamed Masoud Receives Eleanor and Miles Shore Fellowship

Dr. Mohamed Masoud, HSDM lecturer on Developmental Biology and clinical associate in the Faculty Group Practice, was recently honored with an Eleanor and Miles Shore Fellowship.  The Shore Fellowship offers junior faculty at HSDM and HMS financial support during a critical time in their academic careers. Fellowships are assessed for academic promise and personal need. Individual Shore Fellowships generally provide $30,000-$50,000 of funding per year.
