Webinar

HSDM's Division of Periodontology will offer a Clinical Lecture Series (CLS) in Soft Tissue Management in Implant Dentistry taught by Dr. Luca Gobbato. The course will offer one hour of Continuing Education credit.

Date and Time: August 3, 2020 11am – 12pm (Eastern Time, USA) Format: Webinar Lecture

Course Content:

The proper positioning of the implant to avoid esthetic complications is especially important in the anterior maxilla. A thin buccal bone plate (<1 mm) was found in the majority of the anterior teeth in maxilla (62.9% - 80.1%) in a CBCT study. Furthermore, thin buccal bone plate (<1 mm) was associated with severe midfacial vertical bone loss in extraction sites in the anterior maxilla. Thus, it is very important to understand both etiologies and treatment options to correct the midfacial gingival recession.

Educational Objectives:

To discuss indications and contraindications for immediate anterior implant placement protocol.

To discuss why midfacial gingival recession may occur following immediate implant treatment.

To discuss with different surgical techniques to correct midfacial gingival recession.
