Fully Guided Implant Placement: How to Deal with the Unexpected EventsSpeaker: Dr. Young Song

Abstract: Fully guided implant placement has earned its popularity since it has enabled clinicians to conduct the surgery as close to the presurgical plan as possible in a shorter period of time, however, the surgical guide is not 100% reliable. Indeed, we sometimes face situations in which the guided surgery produces undesirable outcome even though every step of the preparation for the surgery has been carried out without any mistakes. This lecture focuses on the specific cases in which unexpected situations may occur during the guided implant placement as well as how to cope with and avoid these situations.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the accuracy of the fully guided implant surgery discussed in the literature and the circumstances which can lead to less accurate implant placement
  2. Learn how to deal with the implant spinning during the guided surgery based on the healing of the implant which lacks primary stability discussed in the literature
