Clinical Lecture Series: Surgical Peri-implantitis Treatment

Date:

Tuesday, March 9, 2021, 10:00am to 11:00am

Location:

Virtual Webinar
Join the HSDM Division of Periodontology for another Clinical Lecture Series continuing education opportunity, titled, "Surgical Peri-implantitis Treatment," featuring Dr. Stefano Parma Benfenati. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, March 9 from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

This course will cover surgical treatment plans for peri-implantitis. Peri-implantitis is a bacterial infection of peri-implant supporting tissues, characterized by the loss of supporting bone. Early interception in peri-implantitis is a crucial factor that can improve treatment prognosis. The correct diagnosis will facilitate pre-operative selection of appropriate techniques for the maintenance of peri-implant tissue health. It is necessary to reconstruct the lost periodontal tissues even if the process of re-osseointegration is not currently considered predictable. Several peri-implantitis cases with long term survival follow up, strategies, clinical protocol and treatment techniques for treatment will be presented.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe surgical approaches based on peri-implantitis defects.
  2. Discuss combined resective and regenerative therapies.
  3. Discuss bone expected clinical outcome after the peri-implantitis treatment.
