Clinical Lecture Series: Interdental Periodontal Attachment Regeneration

Date:

Tuesday, August 2, 2022, 11:00am to 12:00pm

Location:

Webinar via Zoom

Speaker: Dr. Giulio Rasperini

Abstract: In today’s dentistry the aesthetic demand from patients has become the main challenge in Periodontology. Besides the obvious functional results it is now important to achieve aesthetic success, particularly in the anterior areas, where the expectations of the patients are higher.

Understanding the biology of periodontal wound healing will lead to respect and protect the healing phase. The New Classification of Periodontal Disease is focused on the interdental Clinical Attachment level. The Aim of Classic Periodontal reconstructive surgical techniques is the regeneration of the infrabony defects or the root coverage in case of gingival recessions. Recently the evolution of the regenerative plastic surgery makes it possible to treat both simultaneously.

So the development of regenerative clinical and biological concepts, biomaterials, and new surgical techniques in recent years makes it possible to meet the patient’s demands and regenerate the interdental attachment of compromised teeth with predictable long-term results.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Analyze interproximal periodontal defects and papillae loss
  2. Understand how to plan the treatment of interproximal attachment loss
  3. Comprehend the most recent surgical techniques and biological concepts in interproximal attachment gain
  4. Evaluate which biomaterials to use in different scenarios
