The purpose of the Stephen T. Sonis Lectureship in Oral Medicine is to highlight the importance of the oral cavity and its associated structures in disease and in health, and to promote collaboration between oral health care specialists and physicians. The lecture is open to the faculty and students of the Longwood Medical Area, and all other interested professionals who may benefit by it.

The 2019 visiting professor is Douglas Peterson DMD, PhD, FDS RCSEd, Professor of Oral Medicine at the University of Connecticut.
