Dr. Samuel Coffin received his DMD degree from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He combined a two-year hospital-based general practice residency at the West Roxbury VA Hospital with a post-doctoral fellowship at HSDM. Later he received his MBA in Health Care Management from the Boston University Graduate School of Management. Following four years in private practice, Dr. Coffin returned to the VA as Staff Dentist with involvement in the on-site advanced graduate periodontics and general practice residencies. In addition, he served three years in local VA administration with additional responsibilities as Quality Management Analyst. Active in the Academy of General Dentistry, he received his Fellowship (FAGD) in the Academy and served as president of the national VA constituent. He has taught predoctoral prosthodontics at both Boston University and HSDM in the past. In 2014, Dr. Coffin returned to HSDM as Senior Tutor for the Cannon Society and Instructor in Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences.

Fields of Interest

Dr. Coffin maintains interest in dental practice management, infection control, and the role of advanced-trained general dentists. He continues his concern for the oral health of American veterans.
