Oral Healthcare System of the Future 2014 – The Second Annual CE Course

This second annual continuing education course from the HSDM Department of Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology, held May 19-23, 2014, was geared toward dental leaders and dental educators from around the globe who are in leadership positions, as well as those working on curriculum development and advances in clinical management. Course attendees hailed from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the United States. During a series of lectures and workshops, participants focused on conceptually defining the meaning and purpose of leadership; understanding the knowledge, skills, and attributes required for effective leadership; acquiring the ability to assess others for leadership potential; leveraging the skills necessary to meet common challenges with proven techniques in conflict resolution and change management; familiarizing themselves with current trends in implant dentistry, oral medicine, and dental radiology; and gaining insight into the skills necessary to move toward interdisciplinary learning and the development and evaluation of a relevant dental curriculum.

Several participants submitted abstracts detailing their innovation or a success story on the topics of leadership, curriculum development, or clinical advancements in dentistry. These abstracts were displayed in poster format at the welcoming reception on May 19 at the Harvard Faculty Club. The abstracts and posters are published here as PDFs (see below).
