At the annual meeting of the Harvard Dental Alumni Association on May 27, Dean Bruce Donoff presented the HSDM Distinguished Alumnus Award to Thomas Albert, DMD ‘71, MD ‘77, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. The School honored Albert for his many years of teaching at Oregon Health Sciences University and his innovative humanitarian work through the FACES Foundation, of which he is president and cofounder. The FACES mission is “to model comprehensive, high-quality care for indigent, medically isolated patients with cleft lip/palate deformities beyond surgery alone in a locally sustainable manner.” Dr. Albert exemplifies the global leadership that is the hallmark of alumni of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
