Oral Cancer for the General Dentist Continuing Education Course—Register Now

Friday, May. 1, 12:30 pm

Click to download more information and a registration form.

Oral cancer affects nearly 30,000 Americans annually, and despite advances in surgery and chemoradiation therapy, overall 5 year survival rates remain at approximately 50%, with even poorer prognosis in more advanced stages of disease. Oral cancer can be detected during routine clinical examination, placing dentists on the front line for oral cancer awareness, screening, and diagnosis. Management of oral cancer can have a significant impact on long-term oral and dental health, again, highlighting the important role of dentists in the overall care of patients with oral cancer.

This lecture course will present an in-depth overview of the epidemiology, clinical features, management, and late complications following the treatment of oral cancer, with an emphasis on the ways in which general dentists can play an active role in optimizing oral health from diagnosis of oral cancer through long-term follow-up and care. No prerequisites are required.
