Brittany A. Seymour, DDS, MPH

Dr. Brittany Seymour is an Assistant Professor for global and community health at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. She started a private dental practice in downtown Denver and taught part time at the University of Colorado before completing her Masters in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health, where she concentrated in Global Health and Population. She entered academics full time at Harvard in 2011.

She plays a leading role in global health curriculum initiatives for HSDM and the Harvard Global Health Institute. She was the Principal Investigator for the Rwanda Human Resources for Health Oral Health planning period, funded by the Rwanda Ministry of Health, the US Government, and The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. She is an active member of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health’s Global Oral Health Interest Group, where she assists in web design, teaching tools, and competency development for global oral health.

Dr. Seymour has won numerous honors and awards, including the Award for Community Dentistry and Dental Public Health and the Herschel St. Horowitz scholarship by the American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD), an Outstanding Achievement in Teaching Award from HSDM, and was selected as the Inaugural Harvard Global Health Institute Fellow. Her publications have been internationally recognized by leaders in the field.

Fields of Interest

Dr. Seymour’s interests and areas of study include interdisciplinary global health curriculum development and pedagogy, and oral health delivery systems in resource-challenged regions. She has worked in curriculum development and clinical training and programs domestically and abroad.
