Advanced Graduate Education Track in Education
The Advanced Graduate Education Track in Education is jointly offered through HDSM and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. It is a distinct degree program (EdM) comprising courses recommended by HDSM/HGSE faculty specifically for HDSM AGE students.
This program is accommodated within HGSE’s existing Special Studies EdM program, a one-year, full-time program that allows each student to construct an individualized curriculum. In collaboration with an assigned HGSE faculty advisor, students in the Special Studies master’s program develop an interdisciplinary course of study that meets their specific academic and professional needs.
This one-year program may be extended over two years so that the coursework at HGSE may interconnect with the clinical programs at HSDM in a seamless fashion. Although no thesis is required for the EdM, scholarly research is required for HSDM AGE students.
AGE students in this track could choose the EdM instead of the MMSc in addition to their certificate programs. Students wishing to remain in the MMSc program and take courses at HGSE could cross-register for classes selected from a menu of courses pertinent to their careers as health care professionals.
Interested students must submit formal admissions applications to both HDSM and HGSE (following each School’s admissions process) and must be offered admission to both schools.
